RE: I just saved some money, trailer has a gray water tote

It looks like they have improved the rack. I left my tank on the side of the road after the locked rack dropped down.
One word of caution. The clearance when the tank is on its wheels is quite low. It is not made for towing behind a the TV on any but the smoothest of roads.

RE: Installing DC to AC inverter in a Chalet Alpine

To get what you want, you will need a transfer switch to switch the circuit from getting power from shore to getting power from the inverter. Just remember that using the AC for more than minimal loads, like florescent lighting, will kill the battery quickly. The fridge cannot effectively be powered this way.
When installing an inverter to power to run my CPAP, I just added a new plug by my sleeping area. At the same time I installed a battery switch outside so I can provide 12Y to the inverter, converter, both or none.

RE: Adding an electric lift to a PUP?

You can always go with a battery operated hand drill to lift your roof. The downside is that it is one more thing to have to prepare and pack for your trip.

RE: Do I need a special hitch for the E3?

I am planning on putting my WDH back into service with my Tundra for the same reason I used it with my Durango, to improve the ride in the truck. We get too much rear end bounce for my taste.

RE: AC water runoff onto canvas

Yeah, I would just suggest adjusting the jacks to cause the water to flow in another direction. The little difference you make won't really be felt inside. Heck, you don't feel it when it's flowing the way it is now, and that isn't "LEVEL"!
By jacks, I assume you mean the tongue jack and BAL leveler. Pop ups do not have leveling jacks on the corners. Those are just for stabilization not lifting the trailer.

That is what I need. I wonder if this will slip pass the DW without too much notice.

RE: Lift tubes are weering tent material on Utah

Get some Tear-aid tape from Cabella's and use it to make a wear strip in the location of the pinch. If the tape actually wears out you can simply put another piece on. Alternatively, find one of those thin, flexible cutting boards and cut out a small piece. Use the Tear-aid tape to hold it in front of the pinched area. The tenting will never wear our.

RE: Cleaning roof

What type of roof do you have? For my ABS roof, and the rest of my pop up, I use car wash soap.

Get an estimate for your dealer for a repair. If it is above your deductible then call your insurance company. This is a covered event.

RE: Is a PUP OK for fulltiming, boondocking, small car?

You certainly could full time in pop up. I think it depend on how much you want to move around. I PUP can be fairly spacious if you use the spare bunk wisely for storage. But all you stuff would have to be stowed when moving, that could be alot of work and you would need space to stow it. I agree with previous comments about getting a pickup with a bed cap to tow. That will give you some advantages and let you camp with relative safety in bear country. A pop up has its drawbacks for full timing, it really depends on your resources and tolerance for those drawbacks.

RE: Anyone use an Add-A-Room?

I have one and have never used it. We mostly camp for two nights and rarely sit around the trailer. We are either with at the fire or inside. I am always looking for ways to simplify set up and tear down and the AAR just doesn't fit in.

RE: Outlets Not Working On Battery

For the AC, the converter only acts as a distribution panel to hold the breakers. The actual work of the converter is to make 12V DC for the lights & etc. If you want a limited amount of 120V AC then you need to install an inverter. But most AC uses will draw you battery down in a short time. You would need between 6 to 8 batteries to run the typical RV air conditioner for 8 hours.

I wonder why no one has ever made a tankless water heater for RVs? No more need for navy showers.

The main thing that keeps me from a hybrid or TT is that I can't store it at home. Otherwise I'd out there looking with you.

An alternative is to load a few frozen 1/2 gallon water bottles in the fridge and simply turn it off when you stop.

RE: AC Problem

The 240 volt 50 amp service has one neutral and two 120 volt lines with opposite polarity, just like you house does. When you connect either of the lines to neutral you get 120 volts, when you connect the the opposite polarity lines to each other you get a 240 volt circuit. RV's with 50 amp service still have 120 volt circuits but can also have 240 volt circuits for heavy draw appliances like air conditioning or electric clothes driers. The 50 amp to 30 amp plug converter connects to neutral and one of the two 120 lines available, so you only get 120 volts. Amperage is a matter of draw, not of supply. You can connect your camper to whatever rated power line you like, but it will only draw the amperage it needs.

RE: More battery help...

Almost any charger you can buy as Vector, Schumacher or Black and Decker brands will be a three stage charger. If you look for a new battery, make sure it is a pure deep cycle battery not one for dual purpose marine starting and deep cycle. Most of the deep cycle labeled batteries you see at Walmart will be for dual purposes. Some Walmarts carry pure deep cycle batteries seasonally. Otherwise try a sporting goods store that sells electric trolling motors for boats. You chances of finding knowledgeable help at a sporting goods store are substantially better anyway.
With a ~700 watt inverter, you can power a battery charger from your TV to keep the battery power at a reasonable level. It uses more gas than a small genset but for occasional use it is much cheaper.

RE: How to replace the AC fuse on a Starcraft 3606

A low voltage supply is the first thing I would suspect. What campground was it?
My converter is tied to my 15 amp AC circuit. It sounds like yours maybe attached toe the 20 amp circuit so when the breaker tripped it shut off the converter as well. Have you tried the air conditioner an converter at home to see they are still working?
